Unclaimed Property

This is a public notice that the Sacramento County Public Law Library (“Library”) is in possession of certain refundable monies, in the total amount of $12,990. The Library has identified 70 potential claimants for these monies. A specific list of unclaimed monies and individual names of potential claimants is available as a linked document on the Library’s website page https://saclaw.org/unclaimed-property/ and at the Law Library at 609 9^th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

The above funds were collected/received by the Library from the above persons as security deposits on borrowing accounts. The funds have been deposited in the Library’s Deposits from Others Account. Pursuant to California Government Code section 50050 et. seq., it is proposed the Unclaimed Property shall become the property of the Library on September 1, 2026.

Anyone who has a legal claim to the Unclaimed Property must file a written claim with the Director of the Library on or before August 1, 2026, at the address provided below. The claim must identify the name of the claimant, the claimant’s current address and phone number, the amount claimed, and the grounds on which the claim is founded. This Claim Form may be used for this purpose. The Director has the right to demand further proof of identity and other facts to establish any claim, and may accept or reject a claim. If the claim is rejected, the claimant may file a verified complaint seeking to recover all, or a designated part, of the Unclaimed Property in a court of competent jurisdiction within Sacramento County and serve a copy of the complaint and summons upon the Director. A copy of the complaint and summons must be served within thirty (30) days of receiving the Library’s notice the claim was rejected.
