The Law Library will be closed Friday, September 26 for Native American Day.

Volunteer for Lawyers in the Library

For over than 15 years, the Sacramento County Public Law Library has offered Lawyers in the Library, a program providing free 20-minute Zoom consultations with volunteer attorneys to self-represented individuals.

These brief sessions help bridge the gap in our community’s pro bono services, offering  assistance to those who can’t get help elsewhere. Whether someone is facing an active court case, considering legal action, or navigating a binding agreement, volunteer attorneys play a crucial role in helping participants better understand their rights and options.

We’re looking for attorneys to join our team of volunteers. If you’re passionate about expanding access to justice and can spare 1–2 hours per month, we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer Requirements:
  • Active member of the Bar for 5+ years
  • Comfortable using Zoom or similar video platforms
  • Able to explain legal concepts clearly to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Possess broad knowledge across legal topics
