You will learn how to locate cases in printed resources and on-line. Secondary sources will be included in the demonstration of methods researchers use to find relevant judicial opinions.
Topic will include:
– Review the US system of laws and system of legal case reporting.
– Recognize the structure of published cases and the purpose of editorial enhancements.
– Apply classic print research techniques to electronic databases to get faster, more accurate, and more complete answers to your research questions.
– Understand how to use Boolean and segment searching to build on natural language (“Google” style) search results.
