Some adults with developmental disabilities need help providing properly for their health, food, clothing, or shelter. Some may also be substantially unable to manage their finances or resist fraud and undue influence. What options does California law provide in these cases? Special needs planning attorney Brian Wyatt and paralegal Teri Jones will present on establishing so-called “limited conservatorships” for this important population, as applying for a limited conservatorship is now required in California. Attendees will learn about the conservatorship process. We will also explore alternatives to conservatorships and what Brian’s office has learned when petitioning for conservatorship in some of our local courts.
