Health Benefits Compliance under Federal Law Part B – ERISA

The U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) enforces Title 1 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) which governs employer-sponsored health plans. EBSA assists employers and the regulated community in understanding and complying with federal group health plan laws. This presentation will provide an overview of recent updates to health benefit laws under Part 7 of ERISA, including patient protections under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Notice and disclosure regulations and common compliance issues will be discussed.
