You must be registered to vote 15 days before an election in order to vote in that election. For the General Election in 2020, the deadline is October 19, 2020. Additionally, you must re-register to vote if you move, change your name, or wish to modify your political party affiliation.
To see if you are already registered, contact the Sacramento County Department of Voter Registration and Elections (916) 875-6451 or check online at the CA Secretary of State. You can also check online with the Sacramento County Department of Voter Registration.
If you are not registered to vote, you can access the forms and information to register at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm
NOTE: your registration must be post marked or submitted electronically by October 19, 2020. If you miss the 15 day deadline to register to vote, you can register conditionally at any Vote Center in the County of Sacramento. Please check election-specific information for locations and dates. Conditional voters fill out a provisional ballot that is counted once their eligibility is confirmed.
To request a paper voter registration application be mailed to you, please call (800) 345-VOTE(8683) or email Elections Division staff.
