This presentation will cover the basics of patents, trademarks, and copyrights and the differences between these types of intellectual property. In the patent portion of this presentation, Mr. Salter will describe the fundamental changes to the U.S. patent system implemented in March 2013 with the America Invents Act (AIA) legislation. He will also discuss a significant U.S. Supreme Court decision from June 2014 (Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank) that affects the scope of the patent eligibility of computer software.
